Canal Experience is dedicated to ensuring that everyone can enjoy time spent on the Inland Waterways enjoyably and safely. We believe that competence and confidence are the keys to
enjoying your time on the water.
Our courses distil years of experience, gained and passed on by many boatmen, into a practical and enjoyable event.
All our instructors have considerable experience both as boaters and as trainers. They are also all qualified in First Aid and have your safety as their to priority.
An exciting addition to our lineup for the 2008 season will be narrowboat courses on the River Thames. An increasing number of canal boaters are visiting this exciting river. However, handling a narrowboat on the River Thames, especially the tideway, is very different from the placid canals. It can be very daunting.
We are very lucky to have been joined by Graham Heap, an experienced RYA Trainer and Boatmaster who is heading up our new river courses. Graham was the first Skipper of Elsdale II, the floating classroom. He has extensive experience on the Thames and has in own Dutch Barge on the river.
We will also be conducting RYA Courses in First Aid and Engine
Maintenance. We intend to bring these to marinas around the country,
so look out for one near you.
We are located in rural Hertfordshire on the Grand Union Canal, close to the M25 and mainline stations.
It is a beautiful part of the country where the canal weaves through the Gade Valley keeping close company with the river. Our operating area winds through, the Grove Estate, Cassiobury Park and Croxley Common Moor
We operate from the South West Herts Narrowboat Base at Hunton Bridge. Near Kings Langley
